Get inspired by the story of Akamusiima Anxious, who has graduated with a First Class Honours in Electrical Engineering from Kabale University, thanks to the support of the Tumusiime Mutebile Foundation.
The day I received my admission letter to the university was both the brightest and the darkest of my life. I held the key to my future, yet the lock was guarded by a gatekeeper I couldn’t afford: tuition fees.
The moment I received a call confirming I had been awarded the Tumusiime Mutebile Scholarship felt like a sudden, warm light cutting through years of darkness. It wasn’t just a financial package;
Winning this scholarship feels like a weight liftedoff my shoulders. Balancing my studies with part-time jobs—working as a porter and weaving baskets to help my parents raise my tuition—was overwhelming.
When the TMF-supported dialysis unit started operating here in Kigezi, it felt like a new chance at life. I can now receive dialysis regularly, closer to home, and at a subsidized cost. The nurses and doctors trained through the Foundation give me hope every time I walk into the unit.
I was on the verge of dropping out due to financial difficulties. Then, I learned about the TMF Scholarship and applied. Receiving this award has been life-changing. It’s given me renewed hope and the motivation to pursue my dreams of becoming a doctor.”
