Greetings to the Tumusiime Mutebile foundation family.
My name is Atuheire Precious, I am a student at kabale university and I am a proud beneficiary scholar of the TMF scholarships.
My story begins from a rural setting in one of the villages of kabale district. Born to a primary school teacher as a father and a peasant as a mother as a first born of seven, the urge to take us to school was strong but there was an inability to help us attain the best of education.
Therefore our parents took us to UPE schools from where I completed my P. 7 and lucky enough good grades earned me half bursary in one of the private schools around kabale. It is upon the above bursary schemes that I ably completed secondary School.
Life after S.6 had me volunteer in a certain private primary school where I saved some money that we topped up with what my father had to pay tuition for year one semester one. Semester two, my siblings were in vacation and not schooling so I was the area of concentration for the finances of the family.
During that period of my year one, I stayed with my aunt and her family since I was unable to raise accommodation and other means of survival, this meant late coming for classes, inadequate time for classwork while home among others.
I got the scholarship as I reported for year 2, this meant a reduced burden to my family and my sister was able to also report to university.
I moved to hostel and got ample time to concentrate on my academics and also other extra curricular activities.
With balancing my time, I joined university politics and emerged as a student representative to University senate, a platform that has helped me grow into a better person.
I can’t imagine my life if the foundation hadn’t been part of my journey.
I thank the Tumusiime Mutebile foundation so much and pray it continues to impact the lives of those in need, just like me.
