Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile recognized the salient role of research, information and knowledge management in socio-economic development. As highlighted by Abebe Aemro Selassie, Director, IMF African Department during his memorial lecture speech on January 27th 2023. Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile prioritized human capital investment.

Makerere University continuing his legacy established the Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile Annual Memorial Lecture based on academic research and expertise. For example the 2025 annual lecture, insights were gleaned from; Shaping Africa’s future: Intergenerational Leadership, Economic Resilience and the Power of Innovation.

The Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile Foundation is extending these annual lecture series to all regions in Uganda. Working with institutions of higher learning in Northern, Western, West-Nile and Eastern Uganda.
