The Tumusiime Mutebile Foundation and Makerere University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to operationalise the Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile Centre of Excellence for Private Sector Development at Makerere University. 

The MoU was signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Makerere University, Prof. Sarah Ssali; Rt Hon Amama Mbabazi, the Board Chair of the Tumusiime Mutebile Foundation; and Mrs. Betty Tumusiime Mutebile, the Executive Director of the Foundation. 

This was witnessed by Hon Matthew Rukikaire; Hon Dr Ruhakana Rugunda; the Makerere University Secretary, Mr Yusuf Kiranda; Prof Edward Bale, Principal of the College of Business and Management Science; and Prof Ibrahim Mike Okumu, Dean of the School of Economics. Prof Ibrahim Mike Okumu was also announced as Director of the ETM Centre of Excellence for Private Sector Development. 

Others in attendance were the 70th Guild President, Yusuf Kiranda; the 91st Guild President, Churchill James Ssentamu; and the 90th Guild President, Ivan Lubega Nsamaba, among other invited guests. 

The partnership marks an important step in advancing research, policy dialogue and academic excellence in private sector capacity development for Uganda, East Africa and Africa as a whole, emulating the legacy of the late Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile.
