TMF’s mission is to provide
transformational solutions
that nurture academic,
public, and private sector
growth for socio-economic
development.
The Tumusiime Mutebile Foundation (TMF)
was founded in 2016 after Professor
Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile was
honored and awarded by Makerere University
on 27th October 2015, with a Centre of
Excellence for Private Sector Development
and a Chair in Monetary Policy, Banking and
Finance. TMF aims to promote the growth of
private sector in Uganda and sub Saharan
Africa in order to provide transformative
solutions to society in a competitive global
economy.
Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile was a visionary economist and educator. His legacy drives our education programs, offering scholarships, and mentorship to help underprivileged students access quality learning.
Committed to improving healthcare access, the foundation follows Prof. Tumusiime Mutebile’s vision by supporting medical infrastructure, kidney care, and community health awareness to provide quality healthcare for vulnerable communities.
Through large-scale tree planting, the foundation promotes environmental conservation, supporting a greener Uganda and involving schools and communities in sustainable practices.
Inspired by Prof. Tumusiime Mutebile’s vision, we conduct research to inform policy and support private sector growth

I was on the verge of dropping out due to financial difficulties. Then, I learned about the ETM Scholarship and applied. Receiving this award has been life-changing. It’s given me renewed hope and the motivation to pursue my dreams of becoming a doctor.”
Winning this scholarship feels like a weight lifted off my shoulders. Balancing my studies with part-time jobs like working as a porter and basket weaving to support my parents to raise my tuition was overwhelming. This support eases the financial burden, allowing me to focus more on my education and personal growth the most of it!
I was overwhelmed with gratitude. This was more than financial support—it was a confirmation of my potential. I’m excited for the future and ready to embrace the challenges ahead.
